Vehicle Crash Triggers Gas Explosion in Abuja Neighborhood

On Sunday morning at around 6:15 am, a gas explosion rocked Abuja when a vehicle crashed into a gas store located on Arab Road, Kubwa. The explosion was powerful enough to rattle buildings across a wide area, with residents of Dantata Estate, approximately two kilometers away, reporting that their homes shook from the blast.

Eyewitnesses described the explosion as loud enough to wake them from sleep, prompting widespread concern. The incident resulted in considerable destruction, damaging a shelter stand and signposts at Liberty Junction, as well as shops near the gas store that caught fire.

The vehicle involved in the crash was completely burned out. Emergency responders rescued the driver and a child from the scene, transporting them to a hospital for treatment, although their conditions were not immediately confirmed.

Firefighters and security operatives were present to manage the situation, while a large crowd gathered, obstructing vehicle movement along the road.
