Thousands Mourn 100 Bodies Recovered in Gaza Funeral

On Sunday, thousands of Palestinians gathered in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City to mourn 100 individuals whose remains were recovered from the rubble of homes destroyed during the ongoing conflict. The procession included relatives of the victims and large crowds of residents.

The remains were laid out near the wreckage of their homes, covered with Palestinian flags. Local authorities identified the deceased as members of the Rahim, Balawi, Malaka, Qanbour, and Salmi families, who were killed when Israeli forces targeted buildings in the area approximately two and a half years ago.

This event is part of broader efforts to retrieve bodies from collapsed structures across Gaza, where more than 100 bodies belonging to the Shariah and Hassaniya families have also been uncovered recently. Gaza's Health Ministry reported that at least 8,000 people remain unaccounted for since the conflict began in October 2023.
