Gbenga Daniel Blocked from Ogun East APC Meeting

Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, was prevented from entering an APC meeting held at the Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu Ode. The meeting, scheduled for November 11, 2023, aimed to discuss the upcoming senatorial elections and included various party stakeholders.

Upon arrival, Daniel's convoy was blocked by local government chairmen who allegedly received directives to deny him access. A video circulating on social media showed a confrontation between Daniel's security personnel and those at the venue.

Despite the chaos, Daniel addressed supporters from his vehicle, emphasizing that he should not have been barred from the meeting. His media aide, Steve Oliyid, confirmed the incident, stating that the gathering was primarily composed of loyalists to Governor Dapo Abiodun, who has reportedly been at odds with Daniel.

The meeting was intended to endorse a consensus candidate for the Ogun East senatorial district ahead of the 2027 elections, amid ongoing political rivalry between Daniel and Abiodun.
