Gbenga Daniel's Loyalists Reject Abiodun's Senate Candidacy

Loyalists of former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel have publicly rejected the endorsement of Governor Dapo Abiodun as the consensus candidate for the Ogun East APC Senate race in 2027. The loyalists described the endorsement process as carefully orchestrated and exclusive, violating party guidelines for consensus candidates.

During a meeting held in Sagamu, they expressed their grievances to journalists, with spokesperson Olumuyiwa Okunowo emphasizing that the process lacked legitimacy. The group criticized the deployment of armored vehicles and hundreds of police officers around Daniel's residence during their meeting, calling it political intimidation.

They argued that the consensus process should involve voluntary agreements from aspirants and that the party should conduct direct primaries instead. APC Public Secretary Femi Nuberu dismissed the allegations, asserting that the meeting was properly constituted and legally binding, while also addressing claims that Daniel was barred from the venue.
