Ghana's Sam George Oversees Repatriation of 120 Nigerians

Ghana has repatriated 120 Nigerians who were arrested during a cybercrime crackdown, with allegations that they had been trafficked to the country and forced to work in cybercrime operations. Sam George, Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, announced the repatriation on X, thanking the Ghana Air Force and the Ministry of Defence for their assistance.
The operation, named Operation Cyberhunt, was conducted by Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority in collaboration with intelligence and security agencies from Ghana, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. During the operation, security operatives seized 136 mobile phones, 130 laptops, internet connectivity devices, and four vehicles, including one stolen from Canada.
Investigators also recovered valuable items such as jewellery and ten Nigerian passports. Additionally, eight other individuals are being processed for prosecution as investigations continue.
George stated that Ghana, under President John Dramani Mahama, would not be a safe haven for cybercriminals.
