Glasner Explains Uche's Omission from Palace's Squad

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, clarified the decision to omit Christantus Uche from the UEFA Conference League squad. The decision was influenced by the need to comply with squad registration rules, which limit the roster to 24 players, and Uche's performance since joining the club.

Uche, a 22-year-old player, arrived at Crystal Palace on a season-long loan from Spanish side Getafe CF last summer. Despite showing promise, he has found it challenging to secure playing time, having made only three appearances totaling 491 minutes of football.

His loan agreement includes a clause that requires him to start 10 league games for the season, a target that appears increasingly unlikely with the arrival of new signings like Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen. Uche's absence from the European roster comes as competition for places intensifies, particularly with the return of Jean-Philippe Mateta expected at the end of the campaign.
