Kwara Governor Praises Tinubu at 'Operation Savannah Shield' Launch

On Thursday, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the swift response to security threats in the region during the flag-off of 'Operation Savannah Shield.' This military operation, which involves the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force, aims to combat escalating banditry and kidnapping activities in Kwara and parts of Niger State. The initiative follows a recent deadly terrorist attack in Kaiama, Niger State.

Governor Abdulrazaq highlighted the operation's importance in restoring law and order, ensuring the safety of lives and properties, and addressing food security concerns in the agricultural belt of the area. The operation will utilize a proactive and coordinated approach, focusing on intelligence-driven strategies and community engagement to reclaim affected communities from criminal elements.

The joint task force will particularly target ungoverned spaces around Kainji Lake National Park, which are known transit areas for criminal activities.
