Niger State Governor Urges Unity and Peace, Calls for Rejecting Divisive Narratives

Governor Moham Umar Bago of Niger State emphasized the need for unity and peace during a meeting commemorating the International Day of Peace organized by the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria in Minna. Bago urged citizens to reject divisive narratives and prioritize a human-first approach to promote peace and coexistence.

Maurice Magaji, representing the Commission for Homeland Security, highlighted the principles of equity, justice, and fairness as essential for peaceful living. Religious and community leaders, including Rev.

John Joseph Hayab and Hajiya Hadiza Kuta Rakiya Musa, stressed the importance of dialogue, inclusivity, and understanding to address root causes of insecurity in Niger State. The event aimed to produce a communiqué guiding actions and influencing policies to promote peace and coexistence.

Leaders from various faith-based organizations like the Christian Association of Nigeria and Jama'atu Nasril Islam echoed the call for Nigerians to preach and practice peace irrespective of their faith or status.
