APC Chieftain Demands Apology from Governor Otti

Paul Ikonne, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has strongly criticized Governor Alex Otti for his verbal attack on journalist Chika Nwabueze during a recent media briefing. Ikonne described Otti's outburst as dictatorial and called for an unconditional public apology to the journalist.

The incident occurred when Otti labeled a question posed by Nwabueze as "irresponsible" and "stupid." Ikonne expressed grave concern over the governor's reaction, stating that journalists should be commended for their courage in raising issues that affect the welfare of the people of Abia State. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability from public officials, arguing that Otti's failure to provide data supporting his administration's claims of improvement in the state reflects a lack of democratic engagement.

Ikonne concluded by demanding that Otti apologize to Nwabueze, asserting that such behavior is reminiscent of authoritarian tendencies that undermine democracy.
