Enugu Governor Peter Mbah to Defect to APC Confirmed, Boosting Party's Influence in South East

Governor Peter Mbah's move to defect from the PDP to the APC was confirmed by APC officials in Abuja. The APC's national chairman and deputy national chairman for the South East inaugurated a newly constituted Enugu State caretaker committee, with the former state chairman being sworn in at the APC national secretariat.

Ben Nwoy, speaking on Mbah's imminent defection, confirmed that the governor will formally join the ruling party at an event scheduled in Enugu next week. This defection is seen as a major political milestone and is expected to boost the APC's influence in the South East region.

Meanwhile, there are indications that Taraba State Governor Mai may also defect to the ruling party. Analysts believe these defections represent a significant blow to the PDP's influence in the South East and North East regions ahead of the upcoming elections.
