Governor Wike of Rivers State skipped visiting Opobo Nkoro LGA during his recent tour, reportedly due to political tensions. A chieftain of the APC in the area suggested that Wike was avoiding Opobo due to prevailing political tensions in the state.

Instead, Wike concluded his tour with a large rally in Obio Akpor LGA, which witnessed a significant turnout and heavy traffic congestion along the route. The decision to skip Opobo was speculated to be influenced by Wike's experiences with neighboring LGAs like Bonny.
