Nigerian Government Allocates N580 Million for Airport Chillers and Software Upgrades in 2026 Budget

The Nigerian government has earmarked N580 million for the procurement of chillers and software upgrades at airports, as part of a total budget of N87.3 billion allocated to the aviation industry in 2026. Specific allocations include N500 million for chillers at Lagos Airport, N80 million for software upgrades, and N800 million for water-cooled chillers at domestic airports.

Additionally, plans are in place to provide upgraded Wi-Fi services for passengers at five international and domestic airports at a cost of N800 million. Other infrastructure projects include the construction of a sewage treatment plant at Owerri Airport, rehabilitation of runways, aprons, and airfield lighting systems at major airports like Port Harcourt, Kano, and Lagos.

The budget also includes provisions for personnel costs, overheads, and capital projects for airport infrastructure upgrades.
