Gowon Celebrates Ambassador Lemu's 80th Birthday and Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State Yakubu Gowon celebrated Ambassador Lemu's 80th birthday and the public presentation of his memoir in Abuja. The event attracted senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and family.

Gowon congratulated Lemu on this milestone, praying for his good health and commending his decision to document his public service. He reflected on their relationship and noted Lemu's professionalism and commitment to duty, recalling their meeting in Japan in 1990 during Emperor Akihito's enthronement.

Gowon praised the memoir as an important record of Nigeria's diplomatic history, serving as a reference for diplomats and scholars. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, described the memoir as a significant contribution to Nigeria's foreign policy literature.

Former Ambassador George Obiozor and Ambassador Chuka Udedibia also praised Lemu for documenting his experiences, emphasizing the importance of such memoirs for future diplomats. Lemu expressed gratitude to all who celebrated with him, highlighting the need to preserve Nigeria's diplomatic history.
