DSS Witness Testifies Against Benue Youth Leader Oloch

In a court session led by Justice Ekeret Akpan, a witness from the Department of State Services (DSS) testified about the recovery of significant weaponry from Benue youth leader Oloch. The prosecution, represented by Calistus Ez, outlined that Oloch was arrested on August 2, 2025, in Agatu Local Government Area, possessing 18 hand grenades, 683 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, 62 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, and 136 live rounds of shotgun ammunition.

The witness claimed Oloch mobilized these arms to retaliate against herders following recurring attacks in the area. Oloch allegedly confessed to purchasing the ammunition for N2 million and provided a written statement during interrogation, which the defense, led by Noah Imoni, contested as being obtained under duress.

The court has ordered a trial within a trial to assess the voluntariness of Oloch's statement, with proceedings adjourned until July 8.
