NISO Reports 404MW Power Generation After Grid Failures

On Monday, electricity generation on Nigeria's national grid was at 404.01 megawatts (MW) at 9:15 pm, after the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) announced that the grid had been stabilized following multiple failures. NISO's real-time generation report indicated that only five generation companies were contributing to the grid at that time.
The highest output came from Omotosho (gas) at 189.50MW, followed by Olorunsogo at 90.30MW, and Paras Energy (gas) at 81.70MW. The generation figure was significantly lower than the 476.70MW recorded at 1 pm and over 3,400MW below the 3,840MW noted at 7 am.
The report detailed that most power plants, including Egbin, Jebba, Shiroro, and Kainji, had zero output at 1 pm. NISO stated that the national grid experienced multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network around 12:40 pm, prompting immediate corrective measures in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
NISO advised the public to disregard misleading information and emphasized its commitment to maintaining grid stability.
