Enugu State Government Launches Economic Reforms and Projects

The Enugu State Government, led by Governor Mbah since May 29, 2023, is focusing on economic reforms and infrastructure development to strengthen industrial growth and improve public sector efficiency. Key initiatives include Executive Order 005, which mandates ministries and agencies to publish service level agreements to enhance transparency and accountability.

The government is digitizing land administration processes to streamline land title issuance and reduce administrative delays. Major infrastructure projects include the rehabilitation and construction of roads linking rural production centers to urban markets, expanding water supply capacity to two million liters per day, and enacting the Enugu State Electrification Law to open the power sector to greater private participation.

Additional plans involve the development of a fiber optic network and support for digitized commerce. The government aims to revive dormant industries and attract large-scale agricultural investments, alongside initiatives in education and transport, including the launch of Enugu Air and a state-wide mass transit scheme.
