Guillermo Hoyos has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Inter Miami, following the departure of Javier Mascherano. Hoyos, who has a long-standing friendship with Lionel Messi dating back two decades to their time at FC Barcelona, stated during his first press conference that their personal bond will not soften his professional approach.

He is tasked with preparing the team for upcoming matches, with a focus on maintaining the club's momentum after last season's successes. Inter Miami currently sits third in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer.

Hoyos is expected to remain in charge until mid-year, with plans for a new coaching structure to be implemented ahead of the League Cup starting in August. Messi, who captained Argentina to victory in the FIFA World Cup, remains the centerpiece of the club's ambitions.
