Guinea-Bissau FA Chief Faces Arrest Over Serious Allegations

Carlos Alberto Mendez Texeira, the President of the Guinea-Bissau Football Federation, is reportedly facing legal proceedings due to allegations that include money laundering, embezzlement, forgery, and the use of forged documents. French investigative journalist Romain Molina disclosed that an arrest warrant has been issued against Texeira in connection with these allegations.

However, these claims have not been independently verified by major international news agencies or confirmed by Guinea-Bissau’s judicial authorities. The reported legal action has raised concerns within the football administration of Guinea-Bissau, particularly as the federation prepares for upcoming international engagements, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers where they will compete in Group L alongside Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Madagascar.

As of now, Texeira has not been convicted of any offense, and the allegations should be treated as claims, with him presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
