Gunmen Kidnap Farmer Bamidele Mathew and Son in Kwara
Bamidele Mathew, a 71-year-old farmer known as Dele Photo, and his 18-year-old son were abducted by unknown gunmen in Odo-Owa, located in the Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State. The abduction occurred on Tuesday along the Idofin-Igbana axis while they were en route to their farm.
Another son of Mathew, who managed to escape, reported that the gunmen emerged from the bush in large numbers and attacked them at gunpoint. Despite efforts by the police and local vigilantes to locate the kidnappers and rescue the victims, these attempts have not yielded results.
A daughter-in-law of Mathew revealed that the kidnappers contacted the family, demanding a ransom of ₦20 million for the safe return of the farmer and his son. She has appealed to local, state, and federal governments, as well as the public, for assistance in securing their release.
