Gunmen Attack Ngige's Convoy in Anambra, Police Launch Manhunt

Gunmen opened fire on Sen. Ngige's convoy in Anambra, disarming police escorts and shooting a policeman.

The Anambra State Police Command launched a manhunt for the fleeing attackers, who had earlier snatched a Mercedes Benz SUV. The police, including Rapid Response Squad and Special Anti-Cultism Unit, engaged in a pursuit operation, leading to a gun duel where the criminals abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled.

Sen. Ngige, a former governor and minister, was unharmed.

The injured officer is stable. Investigations are ongoing.
