Gwarzo and Gawuna to Defect from ADC to NDC Soon

Aminu Gwarzo, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, and Nasiru Gawuna, the 2023 governorship candidate for the Progress Congress in Kano State, are reportedly preparing to defect from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This decision is influenced by recent political realignments involving notable politicians such as former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

A viral video showed Kwankwaso presenting a membership card to Obi, signaling a formal entry into the NDC. Ibrahim Shuaibu, Gwarzo's spokesperson, and Ahm Gogel, a close associate of Gawuna, confirmed that the two politicians will soon publicly announce their defection.

Gawuna's decision is described as a strategic move to reposition politically ahead of the 2027 elections. The ongoing political developments are expected to reshape the political landscape in Kano, particularly among Kwankwaso's loyalists, as high-profile figures align with the NDC.
