1,600 Lagos Pilgrims Return Safely from Makkah Hajj 2026

On the final day of the 2026 Hajj operations, 1,600 pilgrims from Lagos arrived safely at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja. Amir ul Hajj Ibrahim Layod spoke to journalists, attributing the successful conclusion of the pilgrimage to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims and the adequate arrangements made by the Lagos State Commission for Home Affairs.

Layod expressed gratitude towards Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadiri Hamzat for their support, which contributed to the success of the Hajj operations. Dr. Abdullahi Jebe, the Chairman of the 2026 Hajj Ad Hoc Committee, emphasized the importance of strategic planning and adherence to guidelines established in previous years.

He noted that early payments and coordination efforts led by Mr. Abdulhakeem Ajomagberin of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board were crucial in overcoming challenges faced during the operations. Plans for an enlightening campaign for future pilgrims were also mentioned.
