Halkin E&P and Communities Praise NUPRC for PIA Action

Halkin E&P and the host communities of Atala in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State praised the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for its implementation of the 2021 Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). This commendation comes after a recent judgment from the Federal Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, which reaffirmed Halkin E&P's legal ownership of the oil field OML 46.

The three-member panel, led by Justice Moham Ibrahim Sirajo, along with Justices M. Sanni and Elejo Enech, dismissed an appeal from a Bayelsa oil company, labeling it unmeritorious and awarding costs of N1 million against the appellant.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Host Community Development Trust, Idani Ebibomen, noted that Halkin E&P has made significant contributions to the community, including installing solar lights, renovating community facilities, and providing educational supplies. The Vice Chairman of the Trust, Fawari Tokowei, also mentioned ongoing water development projects that will benefit the community.
