Hamzat Aims to Make Lagos the Human Capital of the World

Hamzat, the Governor of Lagos, articulated his plan to transform Lagos into the "Human Capital of the World." He described the governor's role as akin to a team captain, responsible for aligning expertise with vision to enhance citizens' quality of life. His administration follows the THEMES+ Agenda, focusing on continuity and completion of projects, including the Blue Line and Red Line rail projects.

Hamzat noted that while no administration can complete all projects, his government aims to finish ongoing initiatives and prepare the next administration for success. A 25-year development master plan extending to 2050 is in place, with a manifesto of about 537 pages detailing priorities based on consultations with various stakeholders.

Key goals include ensuring 60% of Lagosians have access to potable water within two years, with an estimated cost of N97 billion for rehabilitating old water pipelines. Hamzat emphasized the need for decentralization and better organization within society to address common challenges faced across West Africa.
