HBM Nigeria PLC Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainability

HBM Nigeria PLC, previously known as Lafarge Africa PLC, is reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development, as stated by the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lolu Alad Akinyemi. During a recent media engagement in Lagos, Akinyemi emphasized the company's focus on investing in community and environmental stewardship, local capacity development, and improving lives to create long-term value across Nigeria.

He noted that sustainability is central to HBM Nigeria's business strategy, which includes increasing investments that positively impact host communities and drive inclusive economic growth. Over the past five years, HBM Nigeria has steadily increased its annual sustainability spending, funding projects in education, healthcare, environmental conservation, community infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

The company is also expanding its projects at its Ashaka and Sagamu plants, creating significant employment opportunities and prioritizing skill development for both skilled and unskilled youth in host communities.
