HBM Nigeria Advocates Climate Action at 2026 Summit

HBM Nigeria PLC, represented by Director of Human Resources Gbemiga Owolabi, called for accelerated climate action and sustainable infrastructure development at the 2026 Nigeria Environment Summit held in Abuja. The summit's theme focused on unlocking Nigeria's green economy to drive climate action.

The event gathered government officials, investors, private sector leaders, academia, civil society, and international partners to discuss strategies aimed at unlocking a $5 billion investment pipeline and strengthening governance reforms. Emmanuel Ilaboya from HBM Nigeria highlighted the pressures shaping Nigeria's infrastructure and urban development landscape, including rapid population growth and climate change impacts.

He emphasized the need for resilient, durable, and efficient infrastructure design. Rachel Ezembakw stressed the importance of worker safety in infrastructure development.

Dr. Edwin Edeh, representing the summit's implementation team, called for coordinated action across sectors, while Mallam Balarab Abba Lawal urged for accelerated investment in green financing mechanisms, including carbon markets and public-private partnerships to support Nigeria's climate transition.
