APC Ward Congresses Begin in Benue Amid Heavy Security

The All Progressives Congress (APC) began its ward congresses in Benue State on Wednesday, deploying heavy security across the state to ensure a peaceful and orderly process. The congress, which spans 23 local government areas, aims to elect new ward executives and delegates in preparation for upcoming elections.

Governor-designate Benjamin Omal facilitated the security arrangements, emphasizing the need for a hitch-free exercise. Auwalu Ishaya, the supervising chairman of the ward local government congress committee, addressed party officials, expressing confidence in a peaceful disposition among the people and urging stakeholders to conduct themselves properly.

Jame Ornguga, the state organizing secretary, explained that the ward congress would produce 27 executive committee members and 10 delegates for state congresses. The National Electoral Committee is supervising the process, which includes screening and appeal committees to handle disputes.

The congress is expected to usher in a new ward structure across the state.
