Garki Monarch Advocates for Health Outreach Expansion

On Tuesday, July 28, 2023, Alhaji Usman Nga Kupi, the S’apeyi of Garki, participated in a free hepatitis screening event at the Sa’peyi Palace in Garki, organized by Garki Hospital in collaboration with the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, Zolon Healthcare Limited, MEGA, URAH, Clinton Health Access Initiative, and Abbott. The outreach, themed “Early detection saves lives.

Know your status,” aimed to provide free testing for hepatitis, HIV, syphilis, and malaria, targeting at least 1,000 residents. The S’apeyi emphasized the importance of community-based health interventions and publicly underwent screening to help dismantle stigma surrounding hepatitis testing.

He called for sustained outreach efforts to address other health issues like prostate enlargement and diabetes, urging government and private partners to make healthcare more affordable. Dr.

Justice Igbiti, a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Garki Hospital, noted that the choice of location was strategic to reach underserved communities.
