FCTA Offers Free Hepatitis Screening in Garki Village

On Tuesday, during a community outreach event at the Chief Palace in Garki village, Abuja, Dr. Adeolapo Falawe, the mandate secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), committed to removing barriers to hepatitis care and offering free screening tests to local communities.

Represented by Dr. Teresa Nwachukwu, the director of Public Health at FCTA, Falawe announced that the outreach, organized by NISA Premier Hospital in collaboration with Garki Hospital, would provide free screenings for Hepatitis B, HIV, syphilis, and malaria, along with health education and one-on-one counseling.

Falawe emphasized the importance of creating awareness and educating healthcare workers and the community on hepatitis prevention. She stated that FCTA would facilitate citizens' enrollment in healthcare insurance and ensure hepatitis care is integrated into primary health care centers in the FCT.

Additionally, she mentioned that newborns could receive hepatitis vaccinations within their first few months.
