Hostile Nigerian states will suffer limited connectivity – ALTON

The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has issued a warning to Nigerian states that create hostile working conditions for telecom operators. ALTON Chairman Engr Gbenga Adebayo emphasized the importance of improved connectivity for the country's development, highlighting that telecom operators currently face excessive levies, with 56 different charges in place.

Adebayo noted that the signing of a tax reform bill would reduce these levies by January 2026. He cautioned that states creating unfriendly regulations risk being left behind in the deployment of telecom infrastructure and attracting investments, while those that are supportive will benefit from increased connectivity.

Adebayo urged for cooperation and stressed the need for a conducive environment for telecom operators to thrive.
