House of Representatives Responds to Calls for Tinubu's Resignation

The House of Representatives issued a response to the Minority Caucus, led by Minority Leader Fred Agbedi, who called for President Bola Tinubu's resignation due to rising insecurity in Nigeria. In a press statement signed by House spokesman Akin Rotimi Jr. on Friday, the House acknowledged the concerns regarding safety but reminded the opposition lawmakers that they share responsibility in addressing the country's issues.

Agbedi had previously criticized President Tinubu for allegedly prioritizing his 2027 re-election campaign over the security and welfare of citizens facing violence, kidnapping, and economic hardship. The House's statement emphasized that Nigeria's security challenges cannot be resolved overnight and that security agencies are making steady progress in dismantling criminal networks and rescuing kidnap victims.

The leadership of the House reiterated the need for lawmakers to offer real solutions rather than merely voicing complaints, stressing that national security is a shared responsibility that transcends political affiliations.
