Nigerian House Probes UK Agencies Over Contempt of Court in Corruption Case

The Nigerian House of Representatives has initiated an investigation into the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for alleged contempt of Nigerian court judgments. The case involves billionaire businessman Benedict Peter and former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The UK agencies are accused of undermining Nigeria's judicial sovereignty by continuing to include Peter's name in ongoing criminal trials despite Nigerian court rulings exonerating him. The House committee on petroleum resources downstream is leading the probe, citing violations of international legal norms and attacks on Nigeria's judicial independence.
