Ogun Lawmaker Advocates AI to Boost Agriculture Production

Babatunde Tella, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Abeokuta North, has called for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in Nigeria's agricultural sector to boost production and farmer income. Speaking to journalists, Tella highlighted the need for Nigeria to embrace AI technology to compete with countries that have already achieved high agricultural productivity through advanced systems.

He stressed that agricultural productivity should not be measured solely by the size of farmland but by the level of technology applied in farming processes. Tella also pointed out that neglecting rural communities contributes to urban migration, which limits agricultural expansion.

He urged the government to invest in rural infrastructure and social amenities to encourage people to live and work in rural areas. Tella's remarks came during a meeting where he received unanimous support from local council leaders for his second term in the assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
