Tanko Denies Peter Obi's Expulsion from Obidient Movement

Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, responded to reports claiming that Peter Obi had been expelled from the movement, labeling them as false. The reports were attributed to a faction led by Dr. Barri Avotu Johnson, who announced the disbandment of the Obidient Movement in a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

Johnson's faction stated that they would not adopt a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections and declared that the Labour Party had ceased to recognize the membership status of individuals, including Peter Obi. Tanko criticized the claims made by Julius Abure, the former national chairman of the Labour Party, as nonsensical, emphasizing that it is absurd to think one could expel the owner of a movement, referring to Obi.

He firmly stated that Obi remains the leader of the Obidient Movement.
