Obasanjo Praises Charly Boy for Caring for His Parents

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo stated that his perception of entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, changed significantly after he witnessed the care Charly Boy provided to his parents. During an episode of the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast hosted by Isbae U, Obasanjo revealed that he initially held “no iota of regard or respect” for Charly Boy.

This changed after he visited Charly Boy's home and observed the dedicated care he provided to his father, the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, until his death. Obasanjo noted that Charly Boy also extended similar devotion to his mother.

He frequently visited Charly Boy's mother, whom he described as humorous. Furthermore, Obasanjo confronted Charly Boy about his eccentric public persona, to which Charly Boy explained that it was a business strategy.

Obasanjo praised Justice Oputa as one of the most respected Nigerians and expressed a wish that Charly Boy had emulated his father more closely, while still acknowledging Charly Boy's intelligence.
