Obasanjo Changes View on Charlie Boy After Family Care

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo revealed that his perception of Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charlie Boy, changed after observing him care for his aging parents. In an interview with media personality Bae U, Obasanjo reflected on his earlier views of Charlie Boy, whom he had previously described as “Jaga Jaga.” He held Charlie Boy's late father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, in high regard and was surprised to find that Justice Oputa was living in Charlie Boy's home and receiving excellent care from him.

Initially dismissive of Charlie Boy, Obasanjo's opinion shifted as he witnessed the entertainer's commitment to his father's welfare until Justice Oputa's death. Obasanjo also noted Charlie Boy's care for his mother, whom he described as humorous.

This experience, along with Charlie Boy's explanation of his unconventional public persona as a means of livelihood, led Obasanjo to recognize the intelligence behind Charlie Boy's approach to life and entertainment, resulting in a limited but positive change in his feelings towards him.
