Nigerian Defence Headquarters Thwarts Assassination Plot Targeting Top Officials

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Nigeria foiled a dangerous coup attempt targeting key officials in the Presidency, National Assembly, and top security chiefs. The plot, described as one of the most significant in recent history, involved plans to assassinate senior political and military figures.

DHQ's internal counterintelligence network detected the conspiracy, leading to the arrest of 16 military officers connected to the plot. The coup was allegedly linked to financial transactions and political sponsorship.
