Nigerian Military Officers Detained Over Alleged Coup Plot Involving Top Leaders

At least 16 Nigerian military officers, including brigadiers, colonels, majors, and captains, are currently detained over an alleged coup plot to assassinate President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other key figures. The detained officers are suspected to be members of the 56th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

The coup plot, which involved officers from various military branches, was reportedly foiled in late September. The detained officers hail from different geopolitical zones in Nigeria, with investigations ongoing to uncover more suspects.
