Victor Agali Reveals How He Scouted Maduka Okoye

Victor Agali, a former striker for the Super Eagles, explained how he discovered goalkeeper Maduka Okoye while he was playing for Fortuna Düsseldorf's reserve team in Germany's second division. Agali, familiar with German football from his career, recognized Okoye's potential early on.

He made efforts to reach out to Okoye's family and coach to discuss the possibility of representing Nigeria at the national level. According to a source, Agali introduced the idea of playing for Nigeria to Okoye, who initially needed time to consider the decision.

Agali later escalated the matter to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who made contact with Okoye's club to assess the goalkeeper's readiness for a national team call-up. Okoye eventually accepted the invitation and made his Super Eagles debut in a friendly match against Brazil in 2019, subsequently earning international caps and becoming part of Nigeria's goalkeeper pool.
