NFF Discovers Ineligible Players in DR Congo Team Against Super Eagles in World Cup Qualifying Playoff

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) uncovered ineligible players in the DR Congo team during a World Cup qualifying playoff against the Super Eagles. The NFF Chairman, Shehu Dikko, revealed that the players had not completed their nationality switch according to DR Congo's constitution.

Following the defeat via penalties, Nigeria lodged a complaint with the world's governing body, claiming the players were ineligible to play in the CAF playoff in Morocco in November. The NFF demanded the match be forfeited and the Super Eagles be awarded a place in the intercontinental playoff.
