Nigeria's Oil Production Hits Record High in May

In May, Nigeria's crude oil production peaked at 1.53 million barrels per day (bpd), surpassing its OPEC quota of 1.5 million bpd, marking a significant milestone for the country's oil sector. This achievement is attributed to several factors, primarily the effective pipeline surveillance conducted by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL), which has been instrumental in combating illegal crude oil refining in the Niger Delta region.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported that the total hydrocarbon output, including condensate, reached approximately 1.7 million bpd. This performance represents a 102% compliance with OPEC's production quota and is the highest output since July of the previous year.

The chairman of the South-South Monarch Forum, Ez Sergeant Awus, noted that TSSNL's operations have significantly contributed to peace and stability in the region, which is vital for economic growth. Despite ongoing insecurity in other parts of Nigeria, violence in the Niger Delta has decreased due to TSSNL's efforts.
