Veteran Musician Saint Janet Dies After Sudden Illness

Iyun Janet Ajilore, popularly known as Saint Janet, a veteran Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician, died after experiencing sudden chest pain and difficulty breathing. Her family revealed in an interview with Alore TV that she had performed at a show in Sango, Ogun State, the night before her death and showed no signs of illness.
On the day of her death, she returned from the market around 6 PM and insisted on preparing her own meal. After cooking, her daughter Omowunmi noticed her clutching her chest and complaining of irregular breathing.
Saint Janet requested to be taken to the hospital, where she was admitted and given oxygen. However, her son Orinayo reported that she lost her pulse shortly after arrival.
Another daughter, Fola, arrived at the hospital only to learn of her mother’s death. The family has begun arrangements for her burial, including a nine-day period of prayer and thanksgiving, with the funeral scheduled for August 25 and 26.
