SEDC Achieves Key Milestones in South East Development

The South East Development Commission (SEDC) was inaugurated on February 11, 2025, with Mr. Mark Okoy leading the management team and Dr.

Emeka Wogu as board chair. The commission aims to transform the economy of the five South East states through strategic infrastructure projects.

Despite delays in federal fund releases, SEDC has allocated N140 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. In December 2025, SEDC received N5 billion from the federal account and expects monthly allocations of approximately N2.8 billion starting January 2026.

The commission has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for technical support and is focusing on reviving moribund industries and attracting private investment. SEDC has also engaged with state governments to align industrial priorities and presented its framework at the 2025 Intra-African Trade Fair in Algeria.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State donated a four-storey building for SEDC's headquarters.
