Huawei Launches Agentic AI Cloud in Nigeria

Huawei officially launched its Agentic AI Cloud in Nigeria during the Huawei Nigeria AI and Cloud Summit 2026 in Lagos. This launch signifies a shift from traditional cloud services to locally hosted, enterprise-grade AI infrastructure.

Roc Bai, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Nigeria, stated that this transition is foundational for Nigeria's digital adoption. The initiative aims to tackle challenges faced by Nigerian enterprises, including data security, computing capacity, latency, and deployment costs.

Bai emphasized the importance of data localization and security, aligning with Nigeria’s National AI Strategy. Oladejo Olawumi, representing Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General and CEO of NITDA, highlighted the need for infrastructure investments to support AI adoption.

Austin You, CEO of Huawei Nigeria, noted the option for enterprises to build private infrastructure or utilize local cloud services for quicker AI deployment. Huawei has been present in Nigeria for 27 years and plans to expand partnerships with local startups and developers to enhance the local tech ecosystem.
