Cleric Calls for Reshuffle of Cross River Appointees

Archbishop Josef Bassey, the Territorial Archbishop of Calabar and Convener of the Cross River State Christian Leaders Forum, warned Governor Bassey Otu about the detrimental presence of "weak and self-profiling" appointees in his administration. Speaking to journalists in Calabar, Bassey stated that these officials are hindering government efforts and policies.

He emphasized the need for a cabinet reshuffle to introduce competent officers who can effectively support the administration's vision. Bassey criticized appointees for self-promotion and personal gain, asserting that their primary responsibility should be to advance the government's agenda.

He urged that if an appointee lacks competence or loyalty to the state's goals, they should be removed. Bassey acknowledged ongoing reforms in the public and civil service and praised Otu's commitment to God, describing him as a divinely sent leader for Cross River.
