Ganduje Denies Rivalry with Kwankwaso Amid Defection

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, responded to allegations of enmity with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), after the defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ganduje stated that there is no conflict between him and Kwankwaso, describing their relationship as one of brotherhood rather than rivalry.

This statement came in light of Kwankwaso's accusation that Governor Yusuf betrayed the NNPP by leaving the party. Ganduje made these remarks during a condolence visit to the family of the late former Kano governor Ibrahim Shekarau, addressing the controversy surrounding Yusuf's political move.

He rejected Kwankwaso's characterization of the defection as a betrayal, asserting that he does not consider Kwankwaso an enemy but rather a brother. The defection of Governor Yusuf from the NNPP occurred on January 22.
