I Don’t Know About Any Convention in Ibadan – Wike Hints at Fresh PDP Crisis

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has hinted at a potential fresh crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he expressed unawareness of a planned convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. The PDP had announced the constitution of an organizing committee to oversee the 2025 elective national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, chaired by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Wike's absence from the committee's list raised eyebrows, with the party explaining that the committee's role is to ensure proper preparation for the convention and allocate key National Working Committee positions across geopolitical zones. However, Wike, in an interview on Politics Today, dismissed the move, claiming he was not informed about the convention date and that the National Executive Committee (NEC) did not agree on it.

Wike challenged the validity of the decision, emphasizing that he was not invited to any NEC meeting.
