David Umahi Urges Southeast to Support Tinubu in Elections

David Umahi, the Minister of Works, addressed the Southeast on September 24, 2026, urging voters not to "throw away" their votes in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that despite the region's lack of support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election, they have still benefited from his administration's projects.

Umahi stated, “I have a bragging right in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I’m proud of him,” and challenged critics to provide evidence of what Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has attracted to the Southeast. He also announced plans to decorate the first Niger Bridge linking Anambra and Delta states with pictures of Tinubu after its rehabilitation, highlighting the need to recognize the President's contributions.

Umahi insisted that the bridge would not reopen until all critical structural work was completed and that there should be no security checkpoints within 200 meters of the bridge to prevent traffic issues.
