Umahi Supports Tinubu, Claims Obi Can't Win 2027 Election

David Umahi, the Minister of Works, publicly supported President Bola Tinubu and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo while addressing officials from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). He stated that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is unlikely to win the 2027 presidential election.

Umahi urged South-East leaders to educate the populace about President Tinubu's achievements in the region, asserting that increased awareness would reduce Obi's electoral support. He praised Governor Soludo for his boldness in backing Tinubu and called for respect towards the President's supporters.

Umahi claimed that the Federal Government has shown inclusion of the South-East through various appointments and infrastructure projects, asserting that no previous president has matched Tinubu's contributions to the region. He also discussed the importance of infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges, for economic growth, mentioning that the government would fund 30 percent of major projects, with the remainder sourced from loans repayable through toll revenues.

Additionally, he raised concerns about vandalism and reckless driving on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
