Asake Reflects on Father’s Opposition to Music Career

In a recent interview, Nigerian singer Asake, whose real name is Ololade Ahmed, revealed that he left home to pursue his music career despite his father, Fatai Odunsi, strongly opposing this choice. Asake indicated that their relationship grew cold as he chased his dreams, which he began in March 2025.

His father previously made headlines by accusing Asake of neglecting him, which resulted in significant backlash against the singer. Following this, there was a reconciliation between Asake and his father, with Asake taking responsibility for his father's welfare.

During the interview, Asake credited his resilience and perseverance for his growth in the music industry, emphasizing that he has not changed his sound and continues to sing primarily in Yoruba, despite earlier rejections.
